Hi there --
Small question here --
On my site we always only ever make the types of courses of the "topics format" type... we don't have specific dates that our topics correspond to.
I'm realizing that the course page would look MUCH better if the topics weren't labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 at the far left.
is there a way that I could use CSS to make it so that that numbering of the topics was simply invisible -- nothing would appear in that leftmost edge of the table?

Try adding:
#course-view .topics .section td.left { color:transparent; }to your style sheet.

that worked like a charm! thanks so much. it's so much better when one is using a moodle "course" for a purpose that is actually more like an information center or something.
